Beneath the Surface - Earth

Earth has many layers and scientists have created sources where these can be explored. In a visual way they could be explored through texture and colour.

The earths core is a mystery to many. How can we be completely sure what is at the very centre of our world?

Lava is a dangerous but spectacular substance that creates visually appealing textures, patterns, shapes and colours through burnt oranges.

Rocks come in various shapes and sizes and have been used in the past to draw from, to create sculpture or installation from but can also be seen as an art form generated by nature.

Mining is the extraction of valuable minerals or other geological materials and is done through digging into the earths surface. Art can be created of the tunnels or even through using the substances mined for.

Past and current artists have often explored the theme of under water. Some have produced beautiful painting of colours and textures whilst others have explored the effects the sea has on objects.
